Cliff Coffin brand guidelines

System

Cliff Coffin splits one polarity into two poles. Control is the wordmark, the grid, the axis, Michroma and blue. Chaos is the coffin pattern and red. Every surface carries both, and control always holds more of the area.

Wordmark, icon geometry, Michroma, Space Mono, Graphite, Silver, Cyber Blue. Structure, type, information.

Chaos

The coffin pattern and Primal Red. Used once per surface, as the event, never as the frame.

The house

Sync Primitive Recording Company publishes Cliff Coffin. On releases it appears as publisher; see section 08.

Event bills

Cliff Coffin is billed by name in the event's own type. The promoter carries the only mark.

Mark

Every file is a true vector, named by the ground it sits on. The icon is geometry, so it is specified below and can be checked against these numbers.

The hexagon and axis are control. The ring is chaos, sitting dead centre on top of the structure.

Misuse

Each of these has happened to a mark somewhere. None of them happen to this one.

Don't stretch or squash it.

Don't recolour it.

Don't add effects.

Don't box it on white.

Don't set it on busy imagery.

Don't rotate it.

Colour

Palette

Mark colours (artwork, not for UI)

Area budget per surface: Graphite about 70%, Silver and White about 20%, Cyber Blue under 7%, Primal Red under 3%.
Red is the event. One red element per surface, and never as a background or a text block.
The icon's colours are fixed artwork. They are listed so print can match them, not so the UI can borrow them.

Select any swatch to copy its hex. Ratios are WCAG 2.2 contrast against the ground named.

Michroma

Display and titles. Wide and engineered, so it reads as control.

Space Mono

400 body, 700 emphasis

Body copy and data. Monospaced, so every line sits on the grid.

Scale: Perfect fifth, 1.500, base 14 px

A fifth is 3:2, a wider interval than the house's fourth. The artist steps harder than the label.

Michroma is always uppercase, tracked at +0.02em. Never below 14 px.

Motion

Both brands run on one clock, 140 BPM, the centre of the catalogue's 134 to 142 range. They subdivide it differently.

The artist cuts on the sixteenth. Control moves in straight, quantised steps; chaos is the only thing allowed to flicker.

Durations derive from the clock: one beat is 60,000 ÷ BPM milliseconds. Move the tempo and every token recalculates. With reduced motion on, nothing moves and the values stay readable.

Partners and applications

Releases

The Cliff Coffin wordmark leads the front. Sync Primitive appears on the back or in credits as publisher, never side by side at equal size.

Event bills

Billed by name in the promoter's type. No wordmark, no icon. Every bill we checked in the KL scene follows this, and so do we.

Promoter assets

Promoters get the name, the press photos and the bio. The wordmark is for Cliff Coffin's own channels and releases.

Approval

Anything that carries the wordmark or the coffin is approved before it runs. Send proofs to bookings@cliffcoffin.com.
